Hibanobambusa tranquilans ‘Shirshima’
This single species genus was once thought to have originated in the wild from a crossing of Sasa veitchii and Phyllostachys nigra ‘Henon’. It has a leptomorph rhizome system without the vigor of many Sasa species making this a suitable garden plant.
This is a very attractive, strongly variegated ornamental. As you can see the white striped leaves may have purple tones if grown in strong sunlight. Colors persist throughout the year.
